Valentino - Piccioli Outspoken

FINAL HIGH-RES2.jpg

Undeniably, something has changed within the house of Valentino; the soft hues that interject between the sharp tailoring are peppered with details that can be only described as poetically punk. Pierpaolo Piccioli goes it alone this season and enlists renowned artist and anarchist, Jamie Reid to infuse this Fall Winter 2017/18 instalment with patchwork slogans from “Beauty is your birth right” to “Claim your heritage”. Refining standards and redefining his customer, Piccioli indulges in a broad selection of man bags; the man clutch in particular, proving itself as a strong contender for accessory of the season.

An array of specular outwear dominates; neon orange duffle jackets are positioned next to blood red long-line blazers and floor-length detective style flasher capes, adorned with a literal punk attitude of assured identity. Each look more prominent than the last, Piccioli carefully calculates the use of vibrant colour block trainers, ensuring the luxury tailoring springs from the runway and pairs cleverly with vivid leather, slogan covered baseball caps.

Baseball caps and bow ties allow a subtle fusion of word of traditional luxury meeting new and marrying up divine classic suiting with the sense of gentle anarchy; both literally and figuratively sewn through the collection. Equally, attitudes and silhouettes this season have become more relaxed and undeniable through splashes of sportwear details, fluently intertwined with the sophistication of Valentino as we know it.
