SID City: The Zetter Townhouse Clerkenwell
Set back on the glorious cobble stones of St Johns Square, lives the eccentric 13 bedroom Georgian townhouse and cocktail bar, The Zetter Townhouse Clerkenwell. Stepping into a vibrant amalgamation of worldly trinkets, the Cocktail Room personifies fictional Aunt Wilhelmina. She’s a little crazy, but a well-travelled and outspoken woman, the sort that enjoys a Safari in the Bush, arms flailing at the sight of a pack of Tigers, squawking louder than any of the game in the park. Welcome to her home. This concept has been brought together by Interior Designer, Russell Sage and the theme continues to take us on a journey around the globe into the completely unique rooms found in the townhouse.
With 2 spectacular suites and 11 flamboyant bedrooms, each room comes equipped with its own unique adventure. Russell continued the quintessentially English use of textile that The Zetter Hotel is known for but this time used Gainsborough fabrics, reworked exclusively for The Zetter Townhouse Clerkenwell in contemporary shades. These spacious rooms are like staying in a Dickensian story, a lavish and cosy solace, the perfect place to spend a night in central London.
The Cocktail Lounge is a collaboration between The Zetter Townhouse Clerkenwell bar team and Tony Conigliaro (Drinks Factory and 69 Colebrooke Row), with each recipe featuring bespoke ingredients developed and made by the bar team in the lab. Stuffed full of oddities and curios, with an open fire crackling in the grate, the relaxed, informal sitting room is equally suited to a lazy afternoon as it is a night of uproarious revelry. Served over an apothecary style bar, these old recipes pay homage to the once local Clerkenwell distilleries and brewery’s, whilst telling the story of travels far, far away.
Whether you are stopping by for a nautical port based cocktail or hoping to stay in one of the treasures that await on the floors above, The Zetter Townhouse Clerkenwell is a luxurious and quirky spot and is a destination within itself.
